Christmas in Kauai

The McCalls celebrated Christmas and New Years on the incredibly lovely island of Kauai. We enjoyed hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, surfing and hanging out with eachother.

President's Day Weekend Trip To Dana Point

Erika thinks I need to update the Blog I started some time ago. So here goes. After numerous requests, I relented and got airline tickets to visit Erika, Tyler and Scotty in Southern California. I flew down on Friday morning, early (had to get up before 4 am). Erika and Scotty picked me up at LAX and we had a nice drive down to Dana Point. Scotty got a favorite book, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You, read to him several times on the drive. After a lunch from a Taco Place, and a little relaxation, we headed for a local park, where Scotty enjoyed some time in the swing. We then assembled and flew a kite, until Seattle weather prevailed and raindrops started to fall from the sky.

Saturday was Valentines Day. Erika, Scotty and I had a lovely stroll around the Dana Point Marina, ending with a nice breakfast at (in) The Brig. Tyler went the second mile (perhaps the third) and took me out in the water at Doheny Beach for my first experience surfing. (The picture is from the State Park Website, but is not of me). Thankfully, I had a full wetsuit, as the water was cold. Tyler, with his half wetsuit, was a trooper and very supportive.

That evening, we took a hike along a bluff overlooking the Pacific, where we could see from Palos Verdes to the north to Camp Pendleton to the south and had a nice view out to Catalina.

Sunday was Church. After Sacrament Meeting, Scotty hangs out in the Nursery with the toys. The last hour, I got Scotty to myself , as Erika was teaching Young Women and Tyler got to be with his Elder's Quorum.

My Mom, Gil, Kaeli and Cami drove down from Ventura for the afternoon and we had a lovely time with Balderdash and a great roast, thanks to Tyler. Then I drove up to Long Beach for my first Jet Blue flight.

It was a lovely trip and it was great to see the Johnsons!

October Ruminations

Jenny is in Vienna for the semester.  She spends next week in Italy.  Scotty is learning news words like crazy.  Tyler is sad the Angels lost the series.  Kaeli is working hard in Provo.  Steve is in love.  Aaron is busy with Running Start and Guitar.  Erika is trying to keep ahead of Scotty.  Ellen is nursing her knee and chomping at the bit to get back to exercising.  Had a great conference weekend.
